Explanation: Humana "Notice of State Specific Appointment Termination"

What is this email?

This is an automated administrative notification triggered by Humana’s annual "Appointment Cleanup" process. It is a standard procedure used to manage state-level appointment fees for legal entities that have not been utilized for recent sales.

Key Facts for Agents:

  • You are NOT Terminated: This notice does not mean your contract with Humana or your FMO is terminated. Your Humana Producer Contract remains 100% active.
  • No Impact on Commissions: This does not affect your current Book of Business or your right to receive renewal commissions.
  • "Just-in-Time" Re-appointment: Humana uses a "Just-in-Time" (JIT) appointment process. If you submit a new application for a legal entity listed in the termination notice, Humana will automatically re-appoint you at the time of the sale (as long as you are properly licensed).
  • Administrative Cleanup: Humana is simply removing appointments for secondary legal entities (like Arcadian Health Plan or Humana Insurance Company of New York) in states where you are not currently writing that specific product to avoid unnecessary state maintenance fees.

Does any action need to be taken?

No action is required for the majority of states. You may simply keep the email for your records.

The Exception:

If you plan to solicit business in Pennsylvania, Montana, or Puerto Rico, you must notify Humana (or your Onboarding Specialist) to re-file those specific appointments prior to solicitation, as these states do not allow for the automatic "Just-in-Time" process.
